THE YOGI’S WAY: LIVING IN ACCORD WITH THE YAMAS AND NIYAMAS
Gain a progressively deeper appreciation of what it means to live a life of yoga.
The yamas and niyamas, the first two limbs of the eight-limb path of yoga, serve as a framework for us to engage with others and the world we live in, in a manner which is most appropriate for our personal well-being, and the well-being of life as a whole. The Yogi’s Way, provides a means for practitioners of all levels, to investigate their personal relationship to each one of these guiding principles. Regardless of your level of knowledge, experience, depth of understanding, or intensity of practice, The Yogi’s Way encourages an honest examination and exploration of who you are and how you relate to life.
“David’s book lifts the veil of mystery as to why the disciplines and restraints of yoga are so integral to a holistic awakening practice.” – from the foreword by Ryan Kurczak, host of The Kriya Yoga Podcast
This book forms the foundation of the ongoing Practice Circles, where we work through its ideas together in a structured group setting.

Yoga Sutra of Patanjali: Book One: Samadhi Pada — Concentrated Absorption
A practical commentary on Patanjali’s foundational teachings on yoga, consciousness, and the nature of experience.
Book One of the Yoga Sutra introduces the essential principles upon which Patanjali’s system of yoga rests. In this commentary, the Samadhi Pada is explored through the classical Samkhya framework, with particular attention to the distinction between the changing field of experience (Prakriti) and the Seer (Purusa).
Rather than treating the Yoga Sutra as an abstract philosophical text, this book explores how its teachings can be understood and lived within the circumstances of everyday life. Each sutra is accompanied by accessible commentary and practical exercises, inviting the reader to investigate the nature of thought, conditioning, identification, awareness, and the possibility of greater freedom.
The book explores yoga not as an escape from ordinary experience, but as a means of developing the clarity and steadiness through which experience can be recognised more fully. Its emphasis is on practice, enquiry, and direct observation, allowing the teachings of Patanjali to become a living part of one’s own experience.
Whether approaching the Yoga Sutra for the first time or returning to it with an established practice, this commentary offers a contemporary and practical way to engage with one of yoga’s foundational texts.
Let the Yoga Sutra become not only a text to study, but a guide to live by.
These themes are explored more fully in the Kriya Yoga Preparation Course, and in Experiencing Meditation for those newer to practice.

Yoga Sutra of Patanjali: Book Two: Sadhana Pada — Disciplined Practice
A practical commentary on Patanjali’s teachings on disciplined practice, self-understanding, and bringing yoga into everyday life.
Book Two of the Yoga Sutra explores the means through which the principles of yoga can be brought into daily life. In this commentary, the Sadhana Pada is explored through the classical Samkhya framework, examining how self-discipline, self-study, devotion, and the eight limbs of yoga support the practitioner in recognising and working through conditioned patterns of thought, emotion, and behaviour.
Rather than treating practice as a means of escaping the challenges of ordinary experience, this book explores how yoga can be integrated into the circumstances of everyday life. Through accessible commentary and practical exercises, the teachings are brought into relationship with the body, breath, senses, thoughts, emotions, relationships, and the many roles we inhabit. From asana and pranayama to pratyahara and sustained attention, the practices described by Patanjali are explored as a means of cultivating steadiness, clarity, discernment, and freedom.
Book Two continues the exploration begun in Book One, moving from understanding the nature of yoga towards the disciplined practice through which that understanding can become embodied. The emphasis throughout is not on force, suppression, or rejecting experience, but on developing the awareness through which conditioned patterns can be recognised and gradually worked through.
Whether continuing the journey begun in Book One or approaching Patanjali’s teachings for the first time, this commentary offers a practical and contemporary way to engage with the Yoga Sutra as a lived path of disciplined practice, self-understanding, and freedom.
Let the Yoga Sutra become not only a text to study, but a practice to live.
Book will be out in October, 2026
